The partnership between North Dakota Dollars for Scholars and Bank of North Dakota, along with Scheels Foundation and many donations from businesses and individuals throughout North Dakota, allows the North Dakota State chapter to offer more scholarships to North Dakota students. The following scholarships are only available to North Dakota students who live in a community served by a local Dollars for Scholars chapter.

Dr. Fradkin Regional Community Service Scholarships
Eight $500 scholarships are available to high school senior students within a DFS community who excel in community service. A minimum of one $500 scholarship will be awarded per region in North Dakota. These scholarships are in honor of Dr. Irving Fradkin, founder of Dollars for Scholars. All applications are due to the State Office postmarked no later than May 1 and winners will be notified in early July. Vocational/Technical/Trade School Scholarships
Twenty $500 scholarships are available to high school senior students within a DFS community who will be attending a vocational or technical/trade school. The Joann Link Hetzel memorial endowment specifically contributes to these scholarships. All applications are due to the State Office postmarked no later than May 1and winners will be notified in early July. Returning Students/Graduate Students Scholarship
Forty $500 scholarships are available to students who are returning second-, third- or fourth-year students or graduate students pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree or technical/vocational degree. The James A. Guy endowment specifically contributes to these scholarships. All applications and a copy of the student’s transcript are due to the State Office postmarked no later than June 10 and winners will be notified in early July. The winners will be chosen by a drawing so all who meet the 2.5 GPA criteria and come from a DFS community are eligible to win. Health Care Related Scholarship
Six $500 scholarships are available to students who are returning second-, third- or fourth students pursuing an undergraduate or vocational/technical degree in a healthcare related field. All applications and a copy of the student's transcript are due to the State Office postmarked no later than June10 and winners will be notified in early July. All applicants must meet 2.5 GPA criteria and come from a DFS community to be eligible. Checks will be sent to the colleges in July for use in the fall semester. National Community Volunteer Service Award Program
Students who excel in Community Service or Volunteer programs are eligible to apply for a special set of scholarships from the national organization, Scholarship America, ranging in size from $500 to $1000. AXA Achievers Scholarship for $10,000
A new award this year for graduating seniors who have achieved an uncommon goal, overcome an obstacle, shown special motivation to reach a goal. For more details and to apply online (deadline Dec. 15) click this link.
AXA Achievers Scholarship for $2,000
A special opportunity for students who have made special community service contributions. Applicants are to describe an outstanding achievement in a non-academic activity or project that occurred in school, the community or the workplace." It may be a long-term achievement such as extensive volunteer hours and activities in one area; an activity such as chairing a charity benefit for a classmate diagnosed with cancer; or a project that is related to school such as organizing and leading a new local chapter of SADD. The point is that the focus is not on grades, it is on volunteer contributions to school, community, or the workplace.
