Collegiate Partner Facts

Collegiate Partners are colleges, universities, technical schools, and other accredited postsecondary institutions that demonstrate their commitment to the development of private sector student aid by supporting the mission of Scholarship America and its volunteer-operated Dollars for Scholars® community scholarship foundations. All Collegiate Partner institutions have made commitments that Scholarship America-related scholarships will be used first to fill any unmet need remaining after the institution's initial financial aid package has been calculated. If no unmet need exists, Collegiate Partners have further agreed that the first $1,000 in Scholarship America-related scholarship will not be used to reduce institutional grant assistance.

Matching Collegiate Partners

Take advantage of the matching Collegiate Partner program, if possible, for your local students. This program is only available to students receiving Dollars for Scholars Awards. Each institution designs its own matching program, so read carefully to understand what is available.

North Dakota is just beginning to develop this program and there are two participants at this time. There are many other participating institutions in other states.

If you are attending an out of state school, contact the school counselor or chapter president to review the booklet listing all Matching Partners in the US.

Rasmussen Business College: Up to $500 will be matched for all students with a DFS award. If the student award is less than $500, the match will equal the amount of the award. If the student award is over $500, the match will remain at $500.

Mayville State University: Mayville State will match any DFS award up to $500, with a $15,000 cap. The money will be awarded in the sophomore year upon return to Mayville State and meeting satisfactory progress criteria (2.0 GPA and full time student status). This fund has a $10,000 maximum, so be sure to submit your forms as early as possible.

To inquire about other institutions outside North Dakota and their matching partner status, send a message to the state office at lori.sayler@nddfs.org

Collegiate Partners Plus are schools that go beyond the standard $1,000 agreement, allowing awards of $2,500 - $5,000 (or more) to replace students' unmet need or self-help.
